Today the good folks over at Bethesda Softworks made an exciting announcement. Next month, both Xbox 360 and PC versions of Fallout 3 will be getting some DLC.

Come December, Bethesda will release “the G.E.C.K.” Essentially “the G.E.C.K.,” or Garden of Eden Creation Kit, is a collection of mod tools that will allow users to create/modify any data used in Fallout 3. This means that gamers can create new location, towns, characters, weapons and dialog. Unfortunately the G.E.C.K. will only be available for PC gamers.

Todd Howard, game director for Fallout 3, stated: “We’ve always seen the original world of Fallout 3 as a foundation for even more content. Some created by us, and a lot more created by users. It’s fun to create your own character, but it can be equally fun to create your own adventures. We can’t wait to see what the community does with the G.E.C.K.”

This might seem like enough DLC for some companies, but not for Bethesda. starting in January, it will be releasing three downloadable content packs  that will not only contain new quests and items, but new locations and characters.

The Pitt
Journey to the industrial raider town called The Pitt, located in the remains of Pittsburgh. Choose your side. Scheduled for release in February.

Broken Steel
Join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave remnants once and for all. Continues the adventure past the main quest. Scheduled for release in March.
